With reference to the speech made by President Ramaphosa on Wednesday 13 May 2020, as well as three sets of directions published on Tuesday 12 May 2020, we wish to advise as set out hereinbelow.
2. We do not intend to discuss the legality, or lack thereof, of the ongoing lockdown, but merely wish to provide general advice on the regulations as published.
3. In the President’s speech, it was announced that the majority of the country would probably move to alert level 3 at the end of this month. As set out in our previous correspondence, the details of the further alert levels still need to be published by Government, and we urge you to only act once these regulations have been formally published. If regard is had to the timing to the publication of the previous regulations, we expect that these regulations will only be published around Thursday 28 May 2020. We will, however, keep you up to date as soon as new regulations had been published.
