1. We refer to the above as well as the regulations published by Government today in the Government Gazette No 44044, pertaining to second wave of COVID-19 infections and the resultant amended Level 3 status, as it applies from 00h01 today.
2. In this letter, we intend to give a brief description of the most important aspects of these new regulations, as well as our interpretation of their effect.
3. As in the past, the regulations published under the previous alert levels remain in place, and the new regulations merely add or amend these regulations. This means that all definitions, offences, and the like remain.
4. All of the general measures remain in place to combat the spread of COVID-19, as set out previously, such as social distancing, mandatory wearing of face masks when in public, and the like. It seems as if these will now be more strictly enforced. Also, any person not wearing a face mask in public commits a criminal offence, and may, upon conviction, be liable to imprisonment or a fine, or both.
