Ons is ’n assosiasie van gespesialiseerde kommersiële regsfirmas. Die Wes-Kaapse kantoor het in Mei 2009 begin praktiseer, terwyl die Gauteng-kantoor sy deure in Mei 2022 geopen het. In die periode van November 2017 tot November 2022 het ons ook ’n kantoor in Namibië gehad, welke verhouding egter toe beëindig is. Ons het ’n totaal van 75 jaar ondervinding. Ons lewer gespesialiseerde regsdienste in die kommersiële veld en spesifiek rondom verhuringsreg, oordragte van eiendom, trusts en testamentearbeidsreg, insolvensiereg, die opstel van algemene ooreenkomste, dienste as korrespondente prokureurs en laastens ook algemene invorderings.
GVS Law is die naam en handelsmerk waaronder die lede van die GVS-assosiasie, huidiglik Ben Groot Attorneys Inc (Wes-Kaap) en GVS Gauteng Inc (Gauteng), (elkeen ‘n “GVS-entiteit” en saam die “GVS-entiteite”), regsdienste aan kliënte regoor die wêreld lewer. GVS-entiteite is geïnkorporeer en gereguleer ooreenkomstig die plaaslike regulatoriese- en regs-vereistes, en tree op onder hul onderskeie geregistreerde name. The gebruik van die naam GVS Law is vir beskrywende doeleindes alleenlik, en impliseer nie dat enige van die GVS-entiteite in vennootskap of in ‘n formeel-geïnkorporeerde entiteit handel dryf nie. Die verantwoordelikheid om dienste te lewer aan kliënte word vervat in die mandaat wat elke kliënt aan die betrokke firma verskaf.
Ons glo dat die enigste manier om uit te styg bo die res, is deur passievol te wees oor ons werk.
Dit is vir ons belangrik om persoonlike verhoudings met ons kliënte te bou, en dit is vir ons ‘n bron van trots om alle sake wat aan ons toevertrou is, met passie te hanteer.
Ons verskyn nie net gereeld in die verskillende howe in Weskaap en Gauteng nie, maar, as gevolg van ons verhouding met verskeie prokureursfirmas landswyd, bied ons dienste op ‘n nasionale vlak, en hanteer ons tans sake regoor Suid-Afrika en Namibië. Ons het ook in die verlede kliënte bygestaan met sake in die res van die Afrika-kontinent, en selfs so ver as Europa.
Verder het ons ook goeie verhoudings met verskeie advokate landswyd. Dit plaas ons binne bereik van die beste advies en bystand vir ons kliënte, waar nodig. Al die direkteure het ook verskyningsbevoegdheid in die Hoë Hof. Die voordeel daarvan vir ons kliënte is dat ons self dagvaardings en ander pleitstukke in daardie hof kan opstel, om sodoende kostes te spaar.
Ons missie is om ons kliënte van regsadvies te bedien wat eties, billik geprys en kommersieel sinvol is, op ’n professionele maar verstaanbare manier. Daarom plaas ons ‘n sterk klem op die kommersiële sin om met sake voort te gaan, omdat ons gevind het dat die verhouding tussen ‘n prokureur en kliënt vinnig versleg as dit nie meer die moeite werd is om uitstaande gelde van ‘n skuldenaar te probeer verhaal nie.

We are an association of boutique commercial law firms. The Western Cape office commenced practice in May 2009, whilst the Gauteng office opened its doors in May 2022. For the period from November 2017 to November 2022, we had a Namibian office, which relationship was then terminated. We have a combined total of 75 years of experience. We provide specialised commercial law services, specifically in the fields of the Law of Landlord and Tenant, Transfers of Property, Trusts and Wills, Labour law, drafting general agreements, correspondent attorney services, presenting seminars and training, arbitration services and general collections.
GVS Law is the name and brand under which the members of GVS Association, currently Ben Groot Attorneys Inc (Western Cape) and GVS Gauteng Inc (Gauteng), (each a “GVS Entity” and together with the “GVS Entities”) provide legal services to clients around the world. GVS Entities are constituted and regulated in accordance with relevant local regulatory and legal requirements and operate in accordance with their locally registered names. The use of the name GVS Law is for description purposes only and does not imply that the GVS Entities are in a partnership or are part of a global or any other type of formally incorporated entity. The responsibility for the provision of services to the client is defined in terms of engagement between the instructed firm and the client.

We have also assisted with matters through the rest of the African continent, and even as far afield as Europe.
We have very good relationships with a number of advocates throughout the country which in fact puts us within reach of the best expert assistance for our clients, where necessary. All the directors have obtained the right to appear in the High Court, which has the benefit to our clients that we ourselves are able to draw up summonses and pleadings to be used in the High Court, thereby saving our clients the expense of appointing advocates for mere drafting purposes.
Our mission is to provide our clients with legal advice that is ethical, reasonably priced, and commercially viable, in a professional yet approachable manner. Therefore, we place a strong emphasis on the commercial viability of proceeding with matters entrusted to us, as we have found that the relationship between a client and his or her attorney quickly deteriorates if it is no longer viable to proceed with legal action against a debtor.
